For quite sometime, its seems that i'm not able to access my own friendster home page. I know that they have launch the new layout yesterday, and I manage to access it yesterday evening. But after that, I really had a hard time to access it. They sure know how to build good interface, but the delivery and reliability that's really counts. Hopefully this thing can be overcome.

The overly customizable friendster is one thing i'm not so fond about. This is also the function that made me stop using myspace. Ever since friendster gave out the option to customize the user profile page layout via css, seems like I'd lost interest in it. Undeniably, some of the user really came out with good profile page, but some other just failed. Not that i'm saying i'm good at it, but it's just that, some of them just didn't know how to build it well. A good page is not necessarily a page with all those "bling-bling", music vidz, fancy fonts or colorful wallpapaer stuffed altogether. There is one concept called KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) in interface designing for those who didn't know. To attract people to our page, all we need is a simple design with clear words in it.

Some of the user, that I ran through their page recently, have like tonnes of video clip in it. You all do realize that with all those things, the load time became longer, right? It's a pain in the ass for people using 56k to browse to your page. Even those who uses screamyx 1Mbps would eventually suffer. Not that videos are not good, one or two of them are fine, but more than that is pain. Choose the proper background for your page. If your font color is black, please choose a light-colored background. Staring at the monitor for a long period can cause eye-strain. And if you failed to choose the right background for your page, you have just succeeded in doubling the chance of your viewer suffering severe eye-strain. These were some of the points to take note to. Maybe next time when I'm free, I'll comment more.
